About the event

The event will introduce participants to the rich traditions of Russian decorative and applied arts. The program includes a historical overview of the development of national ornament and its profound symbolic meaning.

An interactive conversation format will include a quiz to help better grasp the material. The practical part features an engaging workshop on creating a traditional ornamental composition on a wooden spoon.

You will need the following for the session:

Acrylic paints – ensure brightness and durability of the design, ideal for wood.

Wooden spoons – a natural base used in Russian crafts from time immemorial.

Brushes of various sizes – the main tools for applying fine and precise patterns.

The event aims to preserve and popularize national cultural heritage through the practical mastery of traditional painting techniques, passing on knowledge about the language of Russian ornament to the younger generation, and developing the artistic skills of participants.

The event promotes a vivid understanding of the inseparable link between the past and the present in folk art.
