About the event

In honor of the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, an engaging meeting dedicated to toys from the Great Patriotic War era will be held. Children were not left aside from the harsh events; they fought on the battlefields, participated in partisan detachments, and even behind enemy lines. Many of them perished, but even in such difficult times, they remained children, and what child can go without a toy?

At the beginning of the meeting, the attendees will learn about the Great Patriotic War and how boys and girls stood up to defend their country alongside adults. The librarian will share interesting stories about the toys that children played with during those harsh years. The children will hear how toys helped them survive during difficult times, how they saved their lives, and served as a true support in besieged Leningrad.

At the end of the meeting, there will be a workshop on making wartime dolls. Participants will be invited to create dolls from improvised materials: newspapers, handkerchiefs, buttons, and much more.
