On June 18, at 6:00 PM, the Rodnik House of Peoples' Friendship will host a master class titled "Чӑваш тӗррин вӑрттӑнлӑхӗ" (“Secrets of the Chuvash Pattern”) for the members of the Chekes Folk Chuvash Ensemble.
Chuvash embroidery is known as the "land of a hundred thousand patterns" — it is the national pride of the people, a unique art form with deep roots.
Participants of the master class will immerse themselves in the world of traditional Chuvash embroidery and uncover its secrets: they will learn the symbolism of ancient ornaments (rhombuses, spirals, circles, and other elements) and analyze the significance of the color palette — from deep shades of red to black, yellow, and green, which carry a special meaning in the culture of the people.
Guests will master the peculiarities of Chuvash embroidery techniques: the absence of knots and a reverse side, the precision of stitches, and their sacred significance. Under the guidance of an experienced master, participants will try to perform basic pattern elements in practice — they will create a fragment of an ornament that can be used to decorate traditional clothing or home textiles.
The master class will be an opportunity not only to learn something new but also to touch upon the traditions of passing down craftsmanship from generation to generation — from old-time gatherings with sewing and singing to modern practices of preserving cultural heritage.
