June 22, 1941, is one of the saddest dates in the history of Russia. June 22, 2026, marks the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the most terrible and cruel war in world history. It is necessary to remember it, as well as the fallen soldiers and officers who gave the most precious thing a person has – their life. Significant hardships also fell to the lot of civilians – women, the elderly, and children.
On the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the exhibition will present military memoirs and fiction telling about the first days and months of the Great Patriotic War, about the misfortune and tragedy this war became for both the entire country and every individual citizen; books about the beginning of the war, about the heroism and self-sacrifice of Soviet soldiers, and about children who helped the front with their labor and courage.
