2026 marks the 135th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Melentyevich Volkov, a writer, translator, and mathematician.
His fairytale works, such as "The Wizard of the Emerald City", "Urfin Jus and His Wooden Soldiers", and "The Seven Underground Kings", are especially popular among young readers. Nevertheless, the author possesses a significant number of historical-fiction and popular science works that rightfully hold a worthy place in the collection of children's literature. It is noteworthy that the author's debut work for a children's audience was not a fairytale, but a historical novella.
For fans of A. M. Volkov's work, an exhibition will be presented where library guests can get acquainted with the works "Yellow Fog", "Urfin Jus and His Wooden Soldiers", and "The Wizard of the Emerald City" in various editions.
