About the event

The name of our fellow countryman, Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal of the Soviet Union Leonid Alexandrovich Govorov is inextricably linked to the history and life of besieged Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War. Leonid Alexandrovich led the heroic defense of Leningrad during its most difficult time, for 670 out of the 900 days of the siege.

At the event, the younger generation will learn about the leadership qualities possessed by L. A. Govorov, and the consequences of his actions and decisions. The participants will hear about the number of wars the commander participated in, the troops he commanded, and the orders he was awarded. They will also examine in detail his military operation "Iskra", which has become a part of military tactics textbooks.

Leonid Alexandrovich Govorov's name is immortalized in monuments and street names in the cities of Yelabuga and Saint Petersburg. In Yelabuga, School No. 2 bears his name. And the people of Leningrad called Leonid Alexandrovich the "Savior of Leningrad".
